We are working through a series created by Worship Design Studio "Lookin for Love: in All the Wrong Places"

Ash Wednesday is the start of the series where we start with the call to repentence, a call to look at how Jesus loves, a call to reflect and move towards the LOVE that is real that gives us treasures in life.

We will reflect on scriptures: Joel 2:1-2, 12-17; Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21

These 40 days are to bring us back to prayer, back to centering.

One thing our Discipleship Committee reflected on is not just what can be let go, but what can be picked up.

Week One- Look for the Resister

Matthew 4:1-11 Is the story of Jesus' Temptations in the desert.

This story is about how Jesus resists the way the world wanted him to take power. The world wanted the Messiah to take over the land, be of military and religious might, to show his power as God. And Jesus took the route that God paved for him to be power over sin and death. To take the route of the cross.

Jesus did respond to each tempation with scripture. This doesn't mean you have to chapter and verse but to resist evil to redirect that evil to love. How does Jesus show us resistance through love?

How can you resist evil in your life? How can you resist evil in this world?
